Acetone is soluble in water and is usually used as an important solvent in the laboratory for cleaning. Produces about 6.7 million tonnes were produced worldwide in 2010 mainly for the use as solvents and for the production of methyl methacrylate and bisphenol A. It is a common building block in the organic chemistry. Acetone is also found in nail polish remover and in paint thinner.
